Mount Sinai's Dr. Mary Ann McLaughlin discusses how family history can increase the risk for heart disease. Dr. McLaughlin is the recipient of grants from the Agency for Health Care Quality and Research, the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the New York Academy of Medicine. Her research focuses on improving the cardiovascular care of women, elderly and minorities. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, and is the author of four book chapters, and is on the Editorial board of the publication, "Focus on Healthy Aging." She has been an invited speaker both nationally and internationally.
